Mýa Marie Harrison (born October 10, 1979), professionally known as Mýa or Mýa Harrison, is an American R&B and pop singer-songwriter, record producer, actress, dancer, and choreographer. Born in Washington, D.C., she was raised by her an accountant mother and musician father. She attended Eleanor Roosevelt High School and graduated at the age of sixteen. Harrison released her debut album with Interscope Records in 1998. The album produced her first top ten hit "It's All About Me" and two more top forty hits "Movin' On" and "My First Night with You".


Her second studio album, Fear of Flying was released in 2000 and became a success stateside and worldwide, selling 1.2 million copies to date. "Case of the Ex" became Mýa's breakthrough hit reaching number two on Billboard Hot 100, number three on the UK Singles Chart, and number one on the Australian Singles Chart. In 2001, she collaborated alongside Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, and Pink on the Grammy Award-winning number-one song "Lady Marmalade". Harrison appeared in films such as Chicago (2002), Dirty Dancing: Havana Nights (2004), Shall We Dance? (2004) and Cursed (2005). Harrison's third studio album, the critically acclaimed Moodring became her first album to debut in the top ten of the Billboard 200 at number three. The album produced the top twenty hit "My Love Is Like...Wo".


In 2002, Harrison won a Grammy Award for her "Lady Marmalade" collaboration, as well as several awards for her role in Chicago.
